Protect Your Home While You’re At the Game

Red Sox StadiumBaseball season is well under way and despite the peaks and valleys we've witnessed from the Red Sox for the first quarter of the season, it looks like we will be in for both a competitive and exciting run as the Sox attempt to retake their position at the top of the league.

If you are lucky enough to have gotten your hands on tickets for a game this season, there are a few security tips you need to remember before you leave your home.

Firstly, don’t broadcast your plans too publically. Although going to the game is exciting, it is not necessary to let your all acquaintances know where you’re going. Instead, save your excitement and stories about the game for your friends when you return.

Think before you tweet about the game. You might not be aware of how much information you're actually revealing. Tweeting from the game, or checking in at the park, lets any potential intruders know that you are not at your home and it might be vacant.

Before you leave the house, ensure that you lock all doors and windows and activate your alarm system if you have one. It might be useful to leave lights on in a hallway or landing to look like someone is in if you are planning on returning that evening.

If you are staying overnight for the game, lock your home securely and close curtains so that potential thieves cannot see in to your home. Ask a close neighbour to pick up and hold deliveries such as milk or newspapers until you return.

There is no doubt that the Boston Red Sox will always present a thrilling game. While it is still too early to know if the Red Sox can regain their position in the league, you can always ensure that your home is securely protected.  Be sure to take our precautions to ensure that the when you return from the game there are no surprises waiting for you!
